About Amoxicillin

Amoxicillin Directions

Amoxicillin is usually taken every 8 hours (three times a
day). Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and
ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.
Take amoxicillin exactly as directed. Do not take more or less Amoxicillin
or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. The tablets should
be crushed or chewed thoroughly before they are swallowed. Continue to
take amoxicillin even if you feel well. Do not stop taking amoxicillin
without talking to your doctor.

Amoxicillin Side Effects

Although side effects from amoxicillin are not common,
they can occur. Tell your doctor if any of these symptoms are severe or
do not go away: upset stomach, diarrhea, vomiting, or mild skin rash.
If you experience any of the following symptoms while taking Amoxicillin, call
your doctor immediately: severe skin rash, itching, hives, difficulty breathing
or swallowing, wheezing, or vaginal infection.

Amoxicillin Precautions

Before taking Amoxicillin, tell your doctor and pharmacist
if you are allergic to amoxicillin, penicillin, or any other drugs. Tell your
doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications you
are taking, especially other antibiotics, allopurinol (Lopurin),
anticoagulants (‘blood thinners’) such as warfarin (Coumadin), oral
contraceptives, probenecid (Benemid), and vitamins. Tell your doctor if you
have or have ever had kidney or liver disease, allergies, asthma, blood
disease, colitis, stomach problems, or hay fever. Tell your doctor if you
are pregnant, plan to become pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you
become pregnant while taking amoxicillin, call your doctor.
If you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or
dentist that you are taking amoxicillin.

Missed Dose of Amoxicillin

If you miss a dose of Amoxicillin, take the missed dose as
soon as you remember it. However, if it is almost time for the next dose,
skip the missed dose and continue your regular dosing schedule. Do not take
a double dose to make up for a missed one.

Uses of Zithromax

Zithromax is used to treat mild to moderate infections
caused by certain bacteria. Doctors may occasionally prescribe it for other
reasons.

Zithromax Directions

How much Zithromax you take and how often you take it
depends on many factors, including the condition being treated and the
age and weight of the patient. If you have any questions about the amount
and/or frequency of Zithromax you are taking, talk with your health care
provider. Carefully read the patient leaflet provided with Zithromax and
reread it each time you get this prescription refilled. Take Zithromax exactly
-as prescribed by your health care provider. Zithromax may be taken with or
without food. Do not take antacids that contain magnesium or aluminum at
the same time that you are taking Zithromax. Long-term or repeated use of
Zithromax may cause a second infection. You may need to stop taking Zithromax
and start another medication to treat the second infection. Contact your
doctor if signs of a second infection occur. Take all of the prescribed
medicine. Failure to take all of the Zithromax may prevent complete elimination
of bacteria, allowing the infection to return. If severe diarrhea, stomach
cramps/pain, or bloody stools occur, contact your health care provider at
once. This could be a sign of a serious side effect requiring immediate
medical attention. Do not treat diarrhea without talking to your doctor.
Zithromax may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Use caution while driving or
performing other tasks requiring alertness, coordination, or physical
dexterity. Zithromax may cause sensitivity to sunlight. Avoid prolonged
exposure to the sun and other ultraviolet light. Use sunscreens and wear
protective clothing until tolerance is determined. Do not stop taking
Zithromax without checking with your doctor. Patients with previous medical
conditions should talk with their health care provider before using Zithromax.
Do not take any othe over-the-counter or prescription medications
without talking with your doctor. This includes any herbal preparations
or dietary supplements. Do not take more Zithromax than prescribed unless
advised to do so by your doctor or health care provider.

Zithromax Side Effects

Every medicine can cause side effects, but many people
have no, or minor, side effects. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if any of
the following occurs: Severe: Serious allergic reactions (rash; hives;
difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth,
face, lips, or tongue); severe diarrhea; stomach cramps/pain; bloody stools;
chest pain; dark red raised areas of skin. Adults: Pounding in the chest.
Children: Yellowing of the skin or eyes. Common: Adults: Diarrhea/loose stools;
nausea; stomach pain. Children: Diarrhea/loose stools; stomach pain;
vomiting; nausea; headache. Other: Adults: Indigestion; gas; vomiting;
vaginal infection; dizziness; headache; feeling of a whirling motion;
drowsiness; tiredness; itching; sensitivity to sunlight. Children:
Chest pain; indigestion; constipation; loss of appetite; gas; oral infection;
chills; dizziness; agitation; nervousness; sleeplessness; fever; tiredness;
fungal infection; general body discomfort; pain; increased cough; sore throat;
runny nose; itching; sweating; inflammation of the eye; dry, itchy skin.

Zithromax Precautions

Before using Zithromax, tell your health care provider about
any of the following: if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or
breastfeeding; if you are taking any prescription medicine, nonprescription
medicine, herbal preparation, or dietary supplement; if you have impaired
liver function; if you have any other medical condition.

Missed Dose of Zithromax

If a dose of Zithromax is missed, take it as soon as
possible. If several hours have passed or if it is nearing time for the
next dose, do not double the dose to catch up, unless advised by your doctor.
If more than one dose is missed, contact your doctor or pharmacist.

Uses of Vaniqa

Vaniqa is an enzyme inhibitor used topically to slow the growth
of unwanted facial hair in women. Vaniqa does not remove
hair.

Vaniqa Directions

Follow the directions for using Vaniqa provided by your doctor.
Vaniqa comes with a patient information leaflet. Read it
carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist any questions
that you may have about Vaniqa. Apply a thin layer of Vaniqa to
the affected areas of the face and under the chin, at least 5
minutes after hair removal (e.g., plucking, shaving). Rub in
thoroughly. Do not wash the treated area for at least 4 hours.
Wait at least 8 hours between applications of Vaniqa. Cosmetics
or sunscreens may be applied after Vaniqa has dried. STORE VANIQA
at room temperature (77 degrees F or 25 degrees C) in a
tightly-closed container, away from heat and light. Brief storage
between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted.
DO NOT FREEZE. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF VANIQA, skip the missed dose
and return to your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply 2 doses at once.

Vaniqa Side Effects

SIDE EFFECTS OF VANIQA, that may go away during treatment,
include stinging, burning, redness, tingling, rash of the skin;
or hair bumps (folliculitis). If they continue or are bothersome,
check with your doctor. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you
experience bleeding skin, or swelling of the face or lips. If you
notice other effects not listed above, contact your doctor,
nurse, or pharmacist.

Vaniqa Precautions

Vaniqa is not a dipilatory. You will need to continue your
routine method of hair removal while using Vaniqa. You may not
see improvement for the first month of use. If your symptoms do
not improve or become worse, check with your doctor. Vaniqa is
not for use in children under 12 years of age. FOR WOMEN: IF YOU
PLAN ON BECOMING PREGNANT, discuss with your doctor the benefits
and risks of using Vaniqa during pregnancy. IT IS UNKNOWN IF
VANIQA IS EXCRETED in breast milk. IF YOU ARE OR WILL BE
BREAST-FEEDING while you are using Vaniqa, check with your doctor
or pharmacist to discuss the risks to your baby.

Drug Interactions with Vaniqa

Inform your doctor about all the medicines you take with and
without a prescription.

Missed Dose of Vaniqa

If you miss a dose of Vaniqa, skip the missed dose and resume
your usual dosing schedule. Do not “double-up” the amount of
Vaniqa used to catch up.

Vaniqa Notes

Do not share Vaniqa with other people.

About Trazodone

Trazodone Directions

Take trazodone exactly as directed by your doctor. If you
do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor
to explain the instructions to you. Take each dose of Trazodone with a full
glass of water. Take trazodone with a meal or a light snack as Food
increases the absorbtion of trazodone by the body and it may help to
decrease dizziness. Do not stop taking trazodone without first talking
to your doctor, even if you begin to feel better. It may be several
weeks before your symptoms begin to improve, and you may require
continuous treatment for quite some time.

Trazodone Precautions

Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing
other hazardous activities while taking trazodone. Trazodone may cause
dizziness or drowsiness. If you experience dizziness or drowsiness,
avoid these activities. Dizziness may be more likely to occur when you
rise from a sitting or lying position. Rise slowly to prevent dizziness
and a possible fall. Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness
and dizziness while taking trazodone.

Trazodone Side Effects

If you experience any of the following serious side
effects, stop taking trazodone and seek emergency medical attention or
contact your doctor immediately: an allergic reaction (difficulty
breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or
face; or hives); a prolonged (4 hours or longer), painful, or
inappropriate erection; or an irregular heartbeat or chest pains.
Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue
to take trazodone and talk to your doctor if you experience any of the following:
dizziness or drowsiness; headache; insomnia or vivid dreams;
dry mouth, upset stomach, nausea, or vomiting; diarrhea or constipation;
tremors; blurred vision.

Trazodone Drug Interactions

Before taking trazodone, tell your doctor if you are taking
any of the following medications: digoxin (Lanoxin, Lanoxicaps), phenytoin
(Dilantin), a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor such as
isocarboxazid (Marplan), phenelzine (Nardil), or tranylcypromine (Parnate), or
warfarin (Coumadin).

Missed Dose of Trazodone

Take the missed dose of trazodone as soon as you remember.
However, if it is almost time for the next regularly scheduled dose, skip
the missed dose and take only the next one as directed. Do not take a double
dose of trazodone.

Trazodone Overdose

If you suspect and overdose of trazodone, seek emergency
medical attention immediately. Symptoms of a trazodone overdose include
drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, seizures, an irregular heart beat,
difficulty breathing, painful erection, and death.

About Ultracet

Ultracet Directions

Ultracet may be taken on an empty stomach or with food.
Side effects you may experience while taking Ultracet include drowsiness,
dizziness, and constipation. CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE IF
you develop a skin rash, itching, confusion, changes in mood or behavior,
hallucinations, dark urine or pale stools, yellowing of the skin or eyes,
or unusual tiredness. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY IF you experience
seizures, difficulty breathing or swallowing, or swelling of face or mouth.
Store Ultracet at room temperature in a tightly-closed container away from
heat and light. If your symptoms do not improve or become worse, check with your doctor.

Ultracet Precautions

DO NOT TAKE ULTRACET IF YOU HAVE HAD A SEVERE ALLERGIC
REACTION to codeine, hydrocodone, dihydrocodeine, oxycodone (such as Tylox,
Tylenol with Codeine, Vicodin). A severe allergic reaction includes a severe
rash, hives, breathing difficulties, or dizziness. IF YOU EXPERIENCE
difficulty breathing, tightness of chest, swelling of eyelids, face,
or lips, or if you develop a rash or hives, tell your doctor
immediately. Do not take any more doses of Ultracet unless your
doctor tells you to do so. DO NOT EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE or
take Ultracet for longer than prescribed. ULTRACET MAY BE
HABIT FORMING. Use caution driving or operating machinery. DO NOT
DRINK ALCOHOL while taking Ultracet. DO NOT TAKE other
products containing acetaminophen (check labels closely) while you
are taking Ultracet. IF DIZZINESS OCCURS, sit or stand up slowly.
BEFORE YOU HAVE ANY MEDICAL OR DENTAL TREATMENTS, EMERGENCY CARE,
OR SURGERY, tell the doctor that you are taking Ultracet. IF
YOU EXPERIENCE WITHDRAWAL SYMPTOMS (nervousness, sweating, nausea,
diarrhea, tremor, trouble sleeping), check with your doctor . FOR
WOMEN: Discuss with your doctor is you are planning on getting pregnant.
ULTRACET IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. DO NOT BREAST-FEED while
taking Ultracet.

Drug Interactions with Ultracet

DO NOT TAKE ULTRACET if you are also taking carbamazepine,
cyclobenzaprine, an amphetamine, opiate analgesic, tricyclic antidepressant,
serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI),
promethazine, or medicine for appetite suppression, sleep, or a nervous,
mood, or behavior condition. ADDITIONAL MONITORING OF YOUR DOSE OR
CONDITIONS may be needed if you are taking isoniazid, guanidine, or an
oral anticoagulant.

Ultracet Overdose

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control
center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of Ultracet overdose may include
nausea, vomiting, sweating, unusual drowsiness, slowed breathing, seizures,
stomach pain, dark urine, deep sleep or loss of consciousness, coma and death.

Missed Dose of Ultracet

IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF ULTRACET and you are taking it regularly,
take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose,
skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule.
DO NOT TAKE TWO DOSES OF ULTRACET AT ONCE.

Uses of Tamiflu

Tamiflu (oseltamivir phosphate) is a medication used to treat some types of influenza
and illness caused by the flu viruses (influenza). Oseltamivir is also used to
prevent the flu for those who are exposed, such as the family members of the patient,
thus helping to reduce the chance of getting the flu when there is a flu outbreak in
the community.

Tamiflu Directions

Take Tamiflu orally as directed by your doctor. You may take Tamiflu
with food or milk to minimize stomach upset. Take Tamiflu as soon as flu
symptoms appear or as soon as possible after you have been exposed, possibly
within 48 hours. If you came down with the flu, take Tamiflu twice a
day for 5 days: once in the morning and once in the evening, completing
the entire 10 doses. To prevent the flu, take Tamiflu once a day for at
least 7 days or take it exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Tamiflu
works best if it is kept at a constant level in your body. Therefore,
try to take Tamiflu at a fixed time each day. Stopping Tamiflu too early
may result in a relapse of the infection. Inform your doctor if your condition
worsens or if new symptoms appear.

Tamiflu Side Effects

If nausea occurs, persists, or worsens, tell your doctor as soon as
possible. Notify your doctor immediately if you have any of these rare
but serious side effects: dizziness, vomiting, persistent cough, persistent
weakness, fever, or sore throat.

Tamiflu Precautions

Tamiflu has not been shown to treat flu-like illnesses caused by any
virus other than influenza A and B. Thus, it will not treat stomach flu,
common cold, or other respiratory illnesses, which are not caused by
influenza viruses. There are many types of viruses that cause symptoms
that are not easy to distinguish from flu. Contact your health care
provider if you feel worse or develop new symptoms during or after
treatment, or if your influenza symptoms do not improve after taking Tamiflu.

Uses of Retin-A

Retin-A is used in the treatment of acne. Retin-A reduces the
formation of pimples and promotes quick healing of pimples that
do develop.

Retin-A Directions

Patient instructions are available with Retin-A. Read them
carefully before using. Apply a thin layer of Retin-A to affected
area at bedtime. Wash hands immediately after use. Using Retin-A
more frequently or in excessive amounts does not improve the
results, but may increase side effects. Avoid applying Retin-A
near the eyes, mouth, or open cuts since this medication can
irritate sensitive skin. Acne may appear to worsen when Retin-A
is first used; continue therapy. It may take three to six weeks
before the full benefits of Retin-A are seen.

Retin-A Side Effects

Immediately after applying Retin-A, the skin may feel warm or
mild stinging or redness may occur. Some peeling of the skin may
occur. These effects should subside as your skin adjusts to
Retin-A. If they persist or become bothersome, inform your
doctor. Retin-A may also increase sun sensitivity.

Retin-A Precautions

Retin-A can increase sensitivity to sunlight, wind and cold.
Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun and sunlamps. Wear protective
clothing and use an effective sunscreen. Retin-A should be used
during pregnancy only if clearly needed. It is not known if
tretinoin appears in breast milk. Consult your doctor before
breast-feeding. Use mild soap when washing your face. Do not wash
face excessively. Abrasive soaps, cleansers, medicated creams or
lotions can increase skin irritation. Consult your doctor or
pharmacist about their use. Use other acne preparations with
caution while using Retin-A .
